Freeze when switching to tty
I have an annoyance that I need to deal with. I can't stand this anymore, and I need to work.
When I switch to a tty, the computer freezes. Anytime I ctrl+alt+F? the computer locks up tight. The caps light doesn't respond; nothing gets a response; leaving it sit does not clear it up. I suspect a kernel panic. I today got the same response when changing resolution from Configure-KDesktop:Display. I can find nothing obvious in the logs. I need to have a better idea where/how to look for this issue. The system is: Debian Lenny (last updated last week; dealing with this problem several weeks) KDE 3.5 Pentium 3 1Ghz Ram 256 MB Dual Video: 3Dfx Interactive, Inc. Voodoo Banshee ATI Technologies Inc Rage 128 RF/SG AGP |
Most likely candidate would be the graphics drivers; what are
you using for which card? And are you running a frame-buffer console, or normal text mode on the ttys? Which card is used for the ttys? Cheers, Tink |
