Freeview and Freevo

I am looking into setting up freevo on my linux box to record and watch freeview (UK free Digital TV).

Just wonder if anyone has tried that before?
Any tip about the type of video card i need?
Do I need to use the set-top box or can I connect the tv arial straight to the card and the software tunes in?

All feedback on that experience welcome please...
L

well if you want a proper freeview card on your machine you need to buy a DVB reciever, about 80 - 100.... if it's just a case of recording an arbitrary UHF signal onto a computer like you appear to be asking then any bt878 card will be fine. that's what i do with my NTL box....

So to record any signal, you can get just a bt878 compliant card but you probably haven't got any software access to the stream (changing channel, etc..) where as to be able to plug freeview straight into the card and have the software to do the rest, I need a DVB receiver card. Is that right cid_kewpie, I am a complete newbie in that business...
Thanks for helping!
