FreeBsdPorts or DarwinPorts for FC3??

Hi all,

I am trying to install pov-ray for my Fedora Core 3 distro and I need it to be installed in the exact same manner that it is installed on my OS X machines. I used DarwinPorts to install it on OS X and unfortunately support for the linux platform is very poor. What I am wondering is....

Is there any way to access the free bsd ports from Fedora Core 3? Ideas anyone?

Thanks much,

Stuart

I don't think you will be able to install it on fedora3 in the exact same manner that it is installed on my OS X machines. Why do you want to?

See: http://www.povray.org/

For what a description of Pov-ray is. The reason I must have the installations exactly the same is because I am trying to setup a cross platform grid in order to render my povray productions. The installations need to be the same or the grid won't be able to execute the povray commands.

Have you searched for this package in the numerous apt and yum repositories available for Fedora?

look to me like you need to just use the source code.. you don't want to use bsd ports.. because you're not using BSD!!!

if you used freebsd ports.. then you compiled from source... to the same on fefora... see if it works.. if not.. replace it with bsd...
