Unhappy Formating C drive after installing Red Hat Linux 9


I have installed the Red hat Linux 9 in my D drive. before i have installed windows ME. i have to format my c drive due to some reason.Now the GRUB menu does not appear when i boot the system. Now how i will be able to run my Linux???????

I'm guessing you had Grub installed on MBR. Windows overwrites the MBR on install (perhaps it does so in other situations aswell). So you could boot up with a boot-diskette and re-install grub. Since I've been using lilo lately, I can't remember from the top of my head how to do it, but a man grub may point you in the right direction.

grub-install /dev/hda ought to do it.

Last time when I needed to format my C drive, I had been adviced to copy the grub info into a flopy before I formatted and then boot into linux after the formating is complete. Ones I logged in I needed to copy back the grub info to MBR.
