If you mean the fonts that WindowMaker uses for window title bars, menu items, etc., open up a terminal window and bring up the contents of your GNUstep/Defaults/WindowMaker file. In there, you'll see references to WindowTextFont, WindowTitleFont, MenuTitleFont, etc.

This is where you'd change your fonts for WindowMaker desktop elements. I suggest you make a copy of the WindowMaker file first, before editing it... just in case.

I hope this helps!

WindowMaker makes it pretty easy to customize your desktop environment....

Something like this: http://members.shaw.ca/djbouley/WM-screen-nov.jpg

Glad I could help.

The font is called ''You Are What You Eat'' and can be found at http://www.pizzadude.dk/freefonts.html

Transparent menus is an option in the verson of WindowMaker I'm running. This version comes with ALT Linux Junior 2.2 (my distribution of choice), but I'm not certain if all of the features are present in the other versions available from the WindowMaker website. When I bring up the WM Info screen, it says that it's running version 0.81.0.

I do know that there are some things in the Junior WM version that have been developed by the ALT Linux team themselves. The ALT Linux team are big fans of WindowMaker... which is another reason why I like this distribution over the others.

I got the font installed, but I can't quite figure out the format of the lines in the WindowMaker config file. Can you post one of the lines from it with the font info? Thanks!

Sure.

WindowTitleFont = "-*-you are what you eat-*-*-*-*-14-*-*-*-*-*-*-*";
MenuTitleFont = "-*-you are what you eat-*-*-*-*-11-*-*-*-p-*-*-*";

If you used a program, like Xfontsel, it will help you ''build'' a line of code (like the examples I've given), which you could then use in the WindowMaker file. Using Xfontsel will allow you to work with the font settings to get the final look you're looking for, saving you a bunch of grief in trying to determine which value goes where... if you know what I'm trying to say. Take that line of code that you've built and paste it in to the WindowMaker file. That's it!

Hmmm... I'm not sure. I used the KDE font install tool (kcmfontinst) to install my fonts and it just worked for me. I'm not all that knowledgable on installing fonts any other way.

Can someone help me to get my fonts recognised by xfontsel? I have installed them in .fonts dir in my home dir, and KDE and GNOME can see them, but xfontsel can't. I've been trying to work out where it finds the fonts, but I can't, esp since RH 8.0 doesn't seem to use standard fontpaths but that unix:/7100 font server animal.

On top of that, I don't have kcmfontinst that Judland mentioned above.
