Fonts in Linux?

Hey everyone,

I finally got Mandrake 9.2 installed on a stand alone machine(no other OS installed) and everything is great except my fonts suck in all applications. They are very choppy. Do you know what I am talking about? I was wondering if you knew an easy way to improve the fonts in Linux. I am using KDE.
The fonts are either too small or just 'choppy'.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
btw, I am using the KDE that came with MDK 9.2

You can usually download lots of fonts from your distro. Also check you have freetype and/or freetype2. You may not have font anti-aliasing without them.
