How would I go about installing the ROX filer (or whatever its called) so that I can get Desktop icons in fluxbox? I dont really want the filer but just the desktop part.

On rox.sourceforge.net find the package for your distribution and install it. Thenin your .xsession write:

rox -pinboard=mypinboards &

exec fluxbox
