I know that the floppy drive is located at /dev/fd0, but how do I gunzip .tgz packages that are on the floppy?

First you would have to be able to access the files stored on it... you'd need to MOUNT the floppy drive...

If you're running something other than Mandrake, then you can open a terminal (the thing that looks like the ol' Windows DOS box) and type mount /mnt/floppy, and then you should be able to access the files from there (/mnt/floppy).

If you're running Mandrake 8.0+, then it is likely that it has already mounted the floppy when you put it in the drive... in which case, you can simply look in /mnt/floppy to see if there are any files there.

HTH
