Floppy & CDRW 7.2 PROBLEM

Ok.. This is driving me CRAZY. I install Linux 7.2.

When I try to mount the floppy or the cdrw, i get this message: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/scd0.

I have a Sony CD-R/RW. When I boot up the computer sees it as HDC. I can type "eject cdrom" and it opens. I check the /dev and I see:
lrwxrwrwx 1 root root 9 sep 30 13:07 cdrom -> /dev/scd0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 sep 30 05:03 fb ->fbo

My etc/fstab is:
Label=/ / ext3 defaults 11
Label=/boot /boot ext3 defaults 12
none /devpts devpts gid=5,mode=620 00
none /proc proc defaults 00
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 00
/dev/hda3 /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu,rp 00
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner,kudzu 00

When i do "cdrecord -scanbus" i get:
0,0,0 0) "Sony ' 'CD-RW CRX185E1 ' 'XYS2' Removable CD-ROM

My etc/lilo.conf is:
prompt
timeout=50
default=linux
boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
message=/boot/message
lba32

image-boot/vmlinuz-2.4.7-10
label=linux
initrd=/initrd-2.4.7-10.img
read only
root=/dev/hda2
append="hdc=ide-scsi
Well there you have it. I hope that someone can help me.

do you have end quotes after this line as well?

do you have scsi emulation and generic scsi devices enabled in kernel?

What options are you passing to mount?

Hi
i saw you firing up this new thread, and your question
is basicly the same as this one;
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=31612
so now we both have to maintain two threads, that is not a
wise thing to do. (see the thing on doubleposting in the forumrules)
Anyway i see you still have got the /dev/hda3 in your fstab ?!
and what is the outcome of my last suggestion in the other
thread.
--And the auto noauto in your /dev/fd0 line looks strange to me.-- forget this see below
And if your cdrecord -scanbus, returns your burner, then
scsi-emu works allright; it is your fstab causing the trouble
So try mounting by hand as root first, then change your fstab
regards

back again updating

i was not completely sure on the fd0 entry so i checked
booting into redhat (working on mdk box with supermount
now)
the auto noauto is fine in your /dev/fd0

printed my fstab from redhat and saw another thing in your
cdrom entry i overlooked.
my entry
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu,ro 0 0 take notice of ro yours says rp

good luck
