Flight Simulator

Hi,

I have been using Opensuse 11 on the Gnome environment for the last six months. I am considering to install Flight Simulator on it. There are a few available on the Yast2. Has anyone used any of them and are they working without the need to download any files from the web.

The programmes available on Yast2 are
  1. gl-7
  2. palomino
  3. redshift
  4. TnL

Thank you in advance
Cheers,

I don't use Opensuse but in Fedora there is a flight simulator listed as fgfs which stands for Flight gear flight simulator. You may want to check for it in yast, it is available in quite a few distro.

what kind of flight simulator are you looking for
unless your willing to pay for a CD
there is no way around downloading files from the net
I just built and installed gl-117 it's a flight simulator game
no tack off no landing just bombing runs and air to air combat

*
gl-117 : depends on (lib)SDL_mixer, but Yeast2 will
get it for you, from the install DVD.

Flight gear is a big one.. I'd be surprised if it's not in your repositories for Suse. X-Plane is not free, but has TONS of community add ons.. Helicopters, jumbojets, fighter jets.. amazing..

Thanks, Is there cd's available that will work on Suse 11. If so where do I look?

Cheers

Hi guys thank you for your replies. X-plane looks good, I think I may have to buy that. Flightgear does not seem to have a version for Suse 11 from what I can see on the website. Anyone knows differently?

See # 4 again, all links are "Suse 11 repositories"

Flightgear, Suse 11 :

http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...USE_11.0/i586/

Now that is definitely the way for you to go.. no compiling, and everything should just work on your Suse 11 box..

Hi, Thank you again guys. I followed the link provide by "farslayer" and installed it. I have not used flightgear before but it looks alright to me.
