Flash 9 upgrade provides significant reduction in quality

I have recently found the BBC iplayer which offers the chance to view via the flash player television programs from the last week.

Despite great quality, I was unable to watch in full screen without a flash upgrade.

I installed the tar.gz file as root without a problem and returned to the bbc.

I could watch full screen now (I assume this demonstrates a successful install?) however the quality (both standard and full screen) is significantly reduced.

I've logged in as user and have the same situation.

What do I do? Can I 'roll back' the install?

I'm on Gutsy Gibbon with a 686 install, Celeron 1.1ghz and 512 RAM with an inbuilt graphics card. Not a lot, but i like it.

Thanks for the advice.

Hmm, the iplayer quality looks good in its small default size, but starts looking only average in fullscreen mode. If you didn't see fullscreen before you upgrade flash player, I think you haven't actually lost quality.

It looks the same to me in small mode, but fullscreen is absolutely dire. Very jerky even with an XP2800 and a 6800GT.
