First Linux Exp

I have been resisting the Linux on slot for years now. Recently I figured I was avoiding the inevitable which brings me to my question.

What flavor of Linux should some one start with that has strictly been a MS guy?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

You should check out our Reviews section: http://www.linuxquestions.org/reviews/index.php

Also browse the Distributions forum where this is asked quite often with many replies, answers, etc.

Another good site to help you determine what you might want to run is www.distrowatch.com

Well if your looking for a distrobution that is a lot like Windows then your in trouble. Linux is a totally different beast. Much like Neo you have to unlearn what you have learned and the linux rabbit hole goes on infinitly(at least I can't see an end in sight).

If you're a totally "Windows" person, then my suggestions would be Lindows, Xandros or Lycorise. These distros are all tailored to the Windows users. If you're willing to accept a slightly steeper learning curve, then Mandrake or Red Hat 9 or Fedora Core 1 may be appropriate. Other than that, probably any Linux, or BSD (flame suit on) distro should be fine; just be willing to accept the necessary adjustment to a superior OS.

FWIW,
