firefox freezing when loading pdf

I have recently reinstalled linux but the only problem I have had so far seems to be that fire fox freezes every time I try to load a pdf article. I was hoping that somebody could tell me how to fix this, or make kghostview or something the default manager for pdf files. And also,l when ever I am browsing cvs source files with my browser, in windows I could easily click and start reading the text, but for some reason fire fox does not let me do that. It comes up with a thing that says "would you like to open this C program with -> less" (its a scroll down menu), and I dont understand why the fact that it is a text file ending in .c is such a problem. Thanks!

I don't know how to solve your other problems, but for this you can go to Edit > Preferences > Downloads > PDF > Remove. Then, click on a PDF, and, when it asks what program you want to use, pick kghostview.
