firefox default plugin problems

Hi

Iv noticed that my firefox 1.0.7 does not have default plugin enabled when you type aboutlugins this is what i get.

Default Plugin
File name: libnullplugin.so
The default plugin handles plugin data for mimetypes and extensions that are not specified and facilitates downloading of new plugins.

MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
* All types .* No

Shouldnt the enabled part equal to "yes" instead of "no". If so how can I fix it? Because my firefox is having issues displaying HTML correctly. its buggin out!!!

Thanks

To enable the default plugin, open a new tab. Type about:config. If you scroll down you will find an entry called plugin.default_plugin_disabled. Toggle the value, and it sohould enable it.

Does anyone know what does this plugin does?
And why would it be disabled by default now?

Here is what is on the Mozilla site.

How do I stop Mozilla Firefox from prompting me to install a plugin?

1. Open about:config, and set plugin.default_plugin_disabled to false.
2. Delete the libnullplugin.so from your Mozilla Firefox plugins directory. You may have to do this as root if you do not have write access to your Mozilla Firefox installation from your user account.

Hope this helps.

My question was rather, why is it disabled in the recent version?

Cheers, Leon.

When you have a false setting, you have it logically enabled, it is a double negative. This plugin gives you information on missing plugins with a false setting, and no warning with a true setting. I think you would have to ask a developer why they named the plugin the way it is named. "plugin.default_plugin_disabled" is just a name.
