finding cpu temperature


How can I find out cpu temperature on a linux machine thru a shell commmand or a perl script ?

Once you have lm-sensors installed and configured you can use KDE System Guard to monitor many hardware and software items.

Your distribution may already have both lm-sensors and KDE System Guard installed.

Don't know anything about your distro, but in Slackware:

mingdao@titus:~$ cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THZN/temperature
temperature:             42 C
You must have support for ACPI compiled in the kernel.

KDE System guard doesn't do temperatures.

Or, if it does, mine doesn't.
