File System Snafu

Newbi here with first post...

I was running something (I forgot, sorry)from a live cd and wanted to take a screen shot of it and save it. I was using a Linux program and wanted to save it to my windows desktop on another computer. Thru a series of events I discovered an error in that desktop machine's file system. The error was "Cluster accounting failed at xxxx: extra cluster in $Bitmap" Could copying and pasting a file from the linux file system to the NTFS file system have caused that? CHKDSK /F fixed the problem so I'm just curious how that error may have been caused.
Thanks...

I copy stuff back and forth between Windows and Linux computers all the time and have never encountered an issue with a file system in the process.

Thanks. I didn't think so, but I couldn't think of what else I might have done to cause that problem.
