file system ran away

Mandrake 8.2
Kernel 2.4.18-6
K6-2/500
196 meg ram

Had the box running perfectly last nite, even had nvidia and Glx working with Xfree4.
Booted from cold this morning and got nothing but errors.
Rebooted into windows and left it for a few minutes - all fine.
Rebooted into Linux - no problems, all fine.
Shut the box down for a few hours, then got nothing but errors in Linux again (windows works fine).
Booted to "failsafe" runlevel and noticed this error;

fsck:fsck.reiserfs: not found
fsck:Error 2 while executing fsck for /dev/hda6

I seem to be able to browse the filesystem though.
This install was only a few hours old.....4th one in a week though.
The only prob I had when it was running nice was that GPM would cut & paste & execute the command line by just touching the mouse after leaving XWindows..........(MS optical scroll mouse).

Anyone got any idea's?.Or is it too vague?

I'd boot from an install cd and run fsck.reiserfs on all your Linux partitions. It may find out what's wrong. But remember, after booting from cd, not from hd (fsck runs much better when the partition it tests is not mounted).
