Fedora Virtual Machine in Linux

Good morning

Has anyone managed to get a Fedora 3 Virtual machine up an running in VMWare? I run VMware under Xandros (works very well). When I try to do a Fedora 3 install on a Virtual Machine, it gets all the way through and when it starts to install, it just dies. Would like to get a VM working just to see what it looks like. Thanks for anyone's response.

Have you tried doing a text mode install? The GUI installs can be tricky. It usually works better to install in text mode, then install the VMware tools, then configure the X server.

I got one FC3 box running in VMware on RHEL 3 up the other day but I deleted it to get back the space. So far I haven't been that impressed with FC3. The SATA performance is pretty poor and they have the RAID stuff so messed up there appears to be no way to recover a broken mirror set.

Error messages

Hi not_an_expert

Thanks for your response. No, I didn't think of that. Might try it later on today. Just for everyone's information, I did get a response from the Vmware forum. One of the people there asked for kernel version, VMware version and error messages. Just for reference,

My version of VMware is
Vmware Workstation

uname -r returns

I just went for a generic install and accepted the defaults. Nothing fancy. I am no expert either. Thanks again for your response. I will tell you how things go later.
