Fedora or Dapper Drake with Athlon 4200

I guess i did not find any other forum where this question fits hence am posting it here..
I am going to buy a new computer with the following congifuration
AMD Athlon 4200 (AM2 socket) ASUS M2N-MX motherboard with Nvidia chipset. 1GB DDR2 dual channel ram ( i.e. 2 separeate rams of 513 MB each ).
I am going to install Fedora Core 6 and Dapper Drake on this configuration. is there anything i should know about these os before going ahead to buy this hardware ?
I am alerady using unbuntu on my laptop so am a little familiar with linux but not confident enough to poke around on hardware level...
any comments suggestions are appreciated
thanks in advance

With newer hardware I would go with (K)ubuntu Fiesty Fawn, and as a second choice Fedora 7, both of which are due to be released shortly. You want the latest version of whatever distro you choose, as it will be less likely to have driver trouble. I run Kubuntu, but Fedora is my second favorite, and you won't really be going wrong with either one.

Good luck...

David
