Fedora Core 4, Wine & e-Sword

I got e-sword installed okay, I can run it but it doesn't really work properly because it can't load the *.bbl files because its looking for them in c:\program files\e-sword rather then /root/.wine/program\files/esword/. There is no where in the actual application to change where to look for these files. Withough being able to load the *.bbl files...the program is pointless. Anyone messed with this?

Now, when you intalled e-sword, did you just copy over the files yourself or did you use the windows installer?

It looks like e-sword thinks it has been auto-installed under

C:\program files\e-sword

But you've installed it under

/root/.wine/program files/esword, where your virtual c-drive is /root/.wine (there is a hyphen difference in the names - or is that a typo?)

From what you have written, you have two issues:

1. you have not set up your virtual c-drive (run winecfg)
2. you are running wine as root!

#2 is a no-no. Do not run beta software with superuser priviledges.

This doesn't really help with your exact problem, but you can always try an open source alternative: http://www.crosswire.org/sword/software/index.jsp

Yep, sounds like the c: drive spec isn't set right... You could try crossover which sorts that out for newbies a bit easier...

Or use sword/bibletime as suggested. It runs native and work well... I even managed to coax it on to e 64 bit mandriva 2006 system

for easy packages, etc, try...

http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...p?group_id=954

once running you can use the app to download texts as you wish...
