fedora 2 core and no internet

hello all.

recently I upgraded my RH9.0 to fedora core 2, and to kernel 2.6.6. Then got an external dial-up modem, and kppp could reach it thru /dev/ttys0. I can now connect to the Internet with kppp.

the strange thing is, after connecting to the Internet, mozilla or any other browser canNOT display any web site. as soon as I type the address and press enter, it gives "could not connect to ...." error as if I am not online.

I suspected that my modem has some error, but no, windows 2000 could get it worked well. I am sure that I have no problem with my line, ISS, or anything else. I can definitely say that, I can go online without any errors, and have a healthy connection.

by the way, i do not know about it much, but /etc/resolv.conf contains nothing.

any ideas? your help will be greatly appriciated.

Hi,

Have a look at your Internet configuration. This problem should be a DNS problem.
If you are using a dialup connection, normally, the provider gives to you dynamic DNS.

In Start / System Tools / Network Device Control .. you should find something about this for your connection.

Sorry, I am running RH9 and not FC2 so I cannot be more precise ...

Just try to give you some hints.

Good luck ,

Philippe
