Fedora 11 Sound Problem

Hi all,

I am having a problem with sound in a range of applications. Playing an mp3 file is OK for 30 seconds or so, and then it seems to skip and make crackling noises. Stopping and replaying the file causes the same thing to happen again.

I have installed all the mp3 codecs so i'm not sure what's going on!

I am having the problem in:
amarok
banshee
spotify (under wine)

Thanks,
Rik.

Unhappy

I'm experiencing the same thing after doing an update a few days ago. Audio playback is affected in Amarok, Firefox, VLC, etc.

Any hint would be greatly appreciated.

I've also had the same problem. It's a pulseaudio bug that still hasn't been fixed. If you browse the Fedora bug archives this issue is all over. The only way to fix it is to remove pulseaudio and use a something different. This problem also happened for me in Fedora 10 but after switching it to ALSA it solved the problem. Unfortunately you can't do this in Fedora 11 so you have to manually install and configure ALSA yourself. Unless your a programmer and can dive into the program itself to fix it, this is the only way I know of. I listen to alot of music so this killed my Fedora experience, i've switched since then.
