Fedora 10 installation

Hi,

I got rid of fedora 10 on my laptop today and installed vista. Then I installed Fedora 10 again. The problem is the bloody computer keeps booting into vista instead of Fedora! So now I can't use my main OS. Does anyone know how I can tell it to boot Fedora? They are both on different partitions, same hard drive.

Thanks a mill

where did you put grub ?
in the MBR ? ( this i don't think you did , if you put it here then fedora would auto boot )
or the first partition of the fedora partition ?

do you want to use 'grub' or the 'MS Windows bootloader 'to boot the computer ?
pick one .

If this was an option I would have done it. I'm not blind :L

I'm having another problem. I am trying to access vesa mode so that I can get into the GUI. At the moment it just boots to the CLI because my graphics card is not supported.

I have tried adding xdriver=vesa to the end of the grub loader and also to the file in /boot/grub/grub.conf but that was unsuccessfull...

I have looked for the xorg.conf file to set the xdriver but I cannot find it. The only similar file that seems to exist on my system is xorg.conf.5.gz

I have downloaded the system-config-display rpm and brought it to my computer on a memory stick but I cannot figure out how to mount the memory stick as it does not seem to be in either the /mnt or the /media directories....

I can't perform yum install system-config-display because I don't know how to connect to wi-fi from the CLI...

Does anyone have any ideas of what else I could try? Or any ideas as to how I can complete any of the processes above?

Thanks

what is this unsupported card, an ati card from 1998 - 2003

fedora 10 dose not use a xorg.conf so one is not made during install . you will need to run
" system-config-display " if it is installed
can you pose this output from the command line
Code:
 lspci | grep VGA
for the wi-fi there is a tool called " system-config-network-tui "

As I said I do not have system-config-display installed and I cannot install it because I can't connect to the internet.

My graphics card is SIS, Silicon Integrated Systems. I am almost 100% sure that it is not supported. I don't want to go down the road of getting into a debate about that fact atm. At the moment all I need is my OS to work and then I can discuss things like that afterward.

Sorry if I seem impatient but I just want to get this thing fixed!

I am glad to say that I am writing this post from Fedora 10!

I managed to boot by adding vga=719 to the end of the grub line and then saved my settings by installing system-config-display.

Thanks for your help.
