fdisk "No free sectors Available"

With me being a newbie that I am, I forgot to create a swap partition on installation. Someone told me to use fdisk to create a new partiton. When it asks for the partition number (1-4) I select the partition number (2) since theres only one partition and its taking up the whole drive; it says that there are no free sectors available. Do I have to change the size of the exisiting partition to make a new one? If so how do I do that?

how much ram do you have? if you have more thatn 512, I wouldn't worry about it, otherwise you're going to have to reinstall, or use parted to resize you / partion. You might be able to do this using the install disk.

I have 384 megs of ram. I ended up reformatting and reinstalling. Everything is fine now. Thanks though!

You can use a file as swap space, you don't need a separate partition for that.

Too late for you though
