Fdisk -l dosen't list partitions

When i boot my livecd on a computer using the cciss module. I type fdisk -l at the shell prompt but it doesn't output anything. I thought it would list whatver is in /proc/partitions. If i cat this file the information displays about my disk if i manualy fdisk -l /dev/cciss/c0d0 it will work. Any ideas why fdisk -l doesnt work?

Thanks!

You're running the command as root, right? If you're not root "fdisk -l will do exactly what you describe ... nothing.

I had to update util-linux package. Then everything worked great.
