Smile FC4 and MYSQL5

Has anyone ever got FC4 to run MYSQL 5? I ahve been trying for awhile now and I am having no luck? I installed mysql from source and here is what I get when I try to start it:
# Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /var/lib/mysql
STOPPING server from pid file /var/lib/mysql/
061024 10:45:08 mysqld ended

[2]- Done /usr/bin/mysqld_safe

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Did you create the initial databases with mysql_install_db? As user mysql?
Any error messages in the logs?

Also make sure you setup a mysql user and it is the owner of the /var/lib/mysql directory, etc.
