fan control
using suse and redhat, my computer makes a lot of noise because of a fan spinning non stop at full power whereas windows lowers its speed so that it doesn't make any noise.
is there a config file that I don't know of where I could tweak that?
thx in advance

it's probably a temperature controlled fan, and your linux isn't set up right to run cool or halt on suspend or some such thing. is more heat coming out of your machine in linux than windows?

nope same heat on both I read that I had to enable acpi to be able to control things such as fan speed but to do so I think I have to recompile the kernel I'm not skilled enough to do it so I'll just stick with the noise and use windows for what I can.
thx for the reply
