Failing to boot Gentoo after running Genkernel

I was following the guide in the Gentoo wiki for setting up a framebuffer in your kernel. I followed the instructions as well as I knew... I emerge'd the package, I ran the "genkernel --menuconfig --gensplash=emergence all" line, it finished compiling, then I modified grub.conf and rebooted.

It reboots, and the framebuffer and theme work! Yaay! Just as I was getting happy, THIS happens as its booting (AFTER the framebuffer shows up):
Code:
Determining root device...
Block device /dev/hda3 is not a valid root device
I'm writing this from Knoppix right now-- I have no idea what to do =/. hda3 has always been my root filesystem partition (the one with /home and /usr and etc/ and stuff.) hda1 is my boot partition. Here's my grub.conf:
Code:
default 0
timeout 0

title=Gentoo Linux
root (hd0,0)
kernel /kernel-2.6.11-gentoo-r5 root=/dev/ram0 init=linuxrc ramdisk=8192 video=vesafb:ywrap,mtrr,1024x768-32@70 splash=silent,theme:emergence real_root=/dev/hda3 udev
initrd /initrd-2.6.11-gentoo-r5
So... please, does anyone have any suggestions? It's pretty critical... I can't use my computer at the moment!
Please and thank you

What filesystem does hda3 have? Are you sure it's supported by your Genkernel?

I would advise chrooting into Gentoo from knoppix & creating a kernel manually. Alternatively, you could copy the Knoppix kernel onto your hard drive and try booting off it. . .

Yes, I suppose you were right. I chroot'ed into Gentoo from knoppix, recompiled my kernel with menuconfig instead of genkernel, and all is good now. And plus, I have a custom kernel now
I learned a lot. Thanks, oneandoneis2.
