failed rpm dependencies kerberos and grip

OK, I need help.
I'm trying to install grip, and this is what I'm getting...

[root@verbbooks root]# rpm -iv ftp://fr2.rpmfind.net/linux/redhat/u....7-14.i386.rpm
Retrieving ftp://fr2.rpmfind.net/linux/redhat/u....7-14.i386.rpm
Preparing packages for installation...
package krb5-libs-1.3.1-6 (which is newer than krb5-libs-1.2.7-14) is already installed
[root@verbbooks root]# rpm -ivf http://unc.dl.sourceforge.net/source...2.0-1.i386.rpm
Retrieving http://unc.dl.sourceforge.net/source...2.0-1.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libcom_err.so.3 is needed by grip-3.2.0-1

So if I can't install the older version of the kerberos libraries, I can't install grip?
This doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks,
Michael

PS - it's a fully updated fedora core one machine (athlon xp 1800)

"error: Failed dependencies:
libcom_err.so.3 is needed by grip-3.2.0-1"

The install is looking for version 3 of libcom_err. You might have a different version installed. Try:
find /usr/lib -iname "*libcom*"
and see what version of libcom, if any, you have installed. You might be able to fix the problem with a symbolic link from libcom_err.so.3 to whatever version of libcom you have installed. You might also try:

rpm -qi e2fsprogs

rpm -qi e2fsprogs-devel

Thank you for the help, but I'm not sure if I understand.

find /usr/lib -iname "*libcom*"
tells me I've got libcom_err.so and libcom_err.a installed.

I've googled for libcom_err.so.3 so I could either just drop it in usr/libs or make a symbolic link, but the only version i find is included in an rpm I have a newer version of, so it will not let me install it.

I'm also not really sure how e2fsprogs is going to help me. Sorry, I'm not really a hacker so sometimes I don't even know where to start. If you could point me in the right direction?

I just tried to install it with --nodeps, but it failed to run because it couldn't find libcom_err.so.3

OK, I fixed it myself...

In case anyone is searching for this problem, here is the answer:

apt-get

OK, never used it before, but it rocks.

this is what i did:
apt-get install grip
then it told me to fix the dependency problem with libcom_err.so.3 with "apt-get -f install"
I did, and noe it works.

Apt-get rocks!
