When you install a .src.rpm, you don't get an executable; you get two files installed. The first will be <filename>.tar.gz, installed in /usr/src/<distroname>/SOURCES. The second will be the rpm spec file, installed in /usr/src/<distroname>/SPECS. From there, you can rebuild the rpm to suit your distro and system hardware. The rebuild process will give you the binary rpm which you install to get a usable app. Or, you can try your hand at manually editing the rpm spec file; your choice.
