Ext4 and jbd2

Hello,
Can anyone tell me how often jbd2 should be writing to an "idle" Ext4 partition? TIA

EDIT: Additional Info
Jbd2 writes to my Ext4 partitions something on the order of this:
A 2 - 3 second write followed by another 2 - 3 second write in about 5-6 seconds. Then, it will not write again for 20 - 30 seconds....then, back to writing every 5 - 6 secs, then repeating. It can vary a second or two either way but that's pretty much how it goes. Seems excessive to me but I can't seem to find any info concerning what the cycle should be. I've disabled journaling for the time being but would appreciate your help.

Thanks again,
mac

Okay then, I have a request. Could a few of you guys running Ext4 please download and install iotop (in the debian repositories), run it for a few minutes and note how often jbd2 writes to your hdd. That would at least give me a reference point for comparison. TIA

I didn't want to take you off the zero reply list, but seeing as how you did it yourself ...
3 ext4 partitions on a quite system, all 3 show up every second in a 30 second batch run. Default mount options.

Maybe you have a (background) indexing service running, maybe logging. Blktrace might be a better tool for determining what.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not well versed in reading the output but take a look at this: http://pastebin.com/Hq3SnFQr when you get a chance, if you will. Anything appear abnormal to you?

TIA
mac

Sorry about the zero reply list....could have posted as an edit.
