I do not think you can use my grub config, you need to generate your own one. how did you install your boot loader?

Oh, no, i don't use your grub config. I only want to consult it.
i use:
Code:
grub-bios-setup -b boot.img -c grub.img -d . /dev/sdb
it automatically created grub.cfg in boot/grub/ folder. it have only one menu which to load kernel.

so here are the relevant entries in grub.cfg:
Code:
menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 3.13.0-79-generic' --class ubuntu --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os $menuentry_id_option 'gnulinux-3.13.0-79-generic-advanced-f3d07eb2-b622-406
                recordfail
                load_video
                gfxmode $linux_gfx_mode
                insmod gzio
                insmod part_msdos
                insmod ext2
                set root='hd0,msdos1'
                if [ x$feature_platform_search_hint = xy ]; then
                  search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root --hint-bios=hd0,msdos1 --hint-efi=hd0,msdos1 --hint-baremetal=ahci0,msdos1 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
                else
                  search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
                fi
                echo 'Loading Linux 3.13.0-79-generic ...'
                linux /vmlinuz-3.13.0-79-generic root=/dev/mapper/my_vg-root ro quiet splash $vt_handoff
                echo 'Loading initial ramdisk ...'
                initrd /initrd.img-3.13.0-79-generic
        }
menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 3.13.0-79-generic (recovery mode)' --class ubuntu --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os $menuentry_id_option 'gnulinux-3.13.0-79-generic-recovery-f
                recordfail
                load_video
                insmod gzio
                insmod part_msdos
                insmod ext2
                set root='hd0,msdos1'
                if [ x$feature_platform_search_hint = xy ]; then
                  search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root --hint-bios=hd0,msdos1 --hint-efi=hd0,msdos1 --hint-baremetal=ahci0,msdos1 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
                else
                  search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
                fi
                echo 'Loading Linux 3.13.0-79-generic ...'
linux /vmlinuz-3.13.0-79-generic root=/dev/mapper/my_vg-root ro recovery nomodeset
                echo 'Loading initial ramdisk ...'
                initrd /initrd.img-3.13.0-79-generic
you may try to modify kernel parameters during boot and enter recovery mode
