Execute File: ./file vs. file

Sometimes it is not possible to execute file using just filename and I use ./file to execute the file.

What is difference between ./file and file?

If the directory is in your path you should be able to excute with only the program's name (assuming is has the right permissions). See your path with $ echo $PATH. If directory is not listed, you can add it. Lots of info on doing that here and elsewhere.
