Ever since I installed Linux, my DSL has slowed. [averted]
Currently now I have Bellsouth 3mbit dsl, and a while back, I was averaging downloads of 300KBp/s - 500KBp/s, depending on the server.
But, ever since I installed Ubuntu on this machine, I've noticed significant drop - my downloads never get higher than 240KBp/s or so, and DSLreports.com's speed test (on various servers) tells me that I only have 1.2mbit dsl.
My modem is a westell wirespeed (dunno number), and it connects directly to my computer by ethernet.
Anyone have an idea as to what the problem is?

IPv6, disabled, no change.
Modem is connected by ethernet, though I don't know how to check/view the MTU.
Iptables is not running.
Not using Roaring Penguin's PPPoE package.
Ethernet interface has no errors.
There used to be much confusion over whether it talked in bits, kilobits, bytes, kilobytes (binary) or kilobytes (denary) all of which makes for big confusion.
There is nothing in Linux that is going to slow your DSL line down..maybe a 'phone call to maBell to check your line?
