i don't know about eterm, but with aterm you have to pass arguments in while starting the app. the following is the code i use for executing aterm with transparency, transparent scrollbar, reversed text, half shading, and green tinting:

aterm -tr -trsb -rv -sh 50 -tint green

i imagine it would be the same in eterm... or at least similar.

ok, try eterm --help and see what it says, normally it should accept args like say: --geometry 100x40 or similar, just read the help and you'll find what you need.

I personally use xterm and gnome-terminal:

1) xterm -geometry 85x35 -fn 8x13

2) gnome-terminal --geometry 80x20 --font=8x13 --transparent

try that!

You can customize your menus so that you can do this with a single click...

...yeah,

generally you have all system config files in /etc, and binaries in /bin /usr/bin /sbin and so on but a great number of sys defaults are found in /usr/share. The funny thing is every distro has a different point of view on that, for example Slackware stores GNOME and KDE under /opt and Suse too uses /opt. I think There are fewer differencies between RedHat-like distros and Debian

/opt stands for /optional, of course . It isn't always used but, like I said, some distro put KDE (and other "optional" packages) there...

ciao
