I've been trying to get my modem and my soundcard to work in RH 7.0 but failed. Some research att ESS homepage shows that modem and soundcard is combined in the same product. Strange!

When trying to configure the modem from Kpp it says that my modem is busy or doesn't answer. In windows it is located on com3 so I have tried ttyS2 in linux but it doesn't work.

Windows however says that the modem is a 3com mini-pci 56k
Does anyone know how to get in touch with the modem?

I have now downloaded the alsa-driver-0.5.9d since it said on the homepage that Maestro 3 should be supported. I can't however find wich driver-module to use, the INSTALL file doesn't mention Maestro 3 only 1 and 2. Tried the same driver as for Maestro 1&2 (snd-card-es1968.o)but it didn't work, error:

snd: ESS Maestro soundcard #1 not found or device busy

I added the following to /etc/modules.conf:
alias char-major-116 snd
alias snd-card-0 snd-card-es1968
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
