Error Message During Booting with Linux 2.4

I'm running Mandrake 9.2. During booting I saw this message:
end request: I/O error, cmd 0 dev 16:40 (hdd)

And there are at least 10 lines of them.

What causes that message? Can anyone help me?

Hi

Have you got anything connected as slave to the secondary IDE channel?

hda = primary IDE channel master
hdb = primary IDE channel slave
hdc = secondary IDE channel master
hdd = secondary IDE channel slave

Regards
Martin
