Hi,

I've been having problems with my printer using ubuntu linux (debian based) with gnome. I have one week to get this working or we'll have to go back to windows, something I do not want to do.

The printer is an epson stylus colour 680, on the parallel port.
I've tried the following drivers :

stc680p.upp
gimp-print

The problem is that although the printer will print documents okay the picture quality of images (jpegs) and images from firefox (gifs and jpegs) is really low and do not print with corect colours. Text and objects filled with solid colours work fine. The cups test page and the openoffice test page both look okay (except the small image of the butterfly) on the openoffice test page.

If anyone has any ideas how to fix this please post, even if you're not sure.
