Open the fstab file as root.
You will see a list of columns in it.
In the first column enter the respective drive location eg /dev/hda/
in the second the mount point you've created in the mnt folder eg /mnt/HardDrive1/
Now in the third put the filesystem usually vfat.
In the remaining columns you can put either Defaults or uid=XXX,gid=XXX or umask 0000 and 0 0.
Heres an example of my fstab :
/dev/hda /mnt/disk1 vfat gid=500,uid=500 0 0

whats the location of this rc.local file?
i have it neither in /etc/init.d nor in /etc/rc.d........
isnt it supposed to be there in one of the above location
