enabling SSH

I have a full install of fedora C2. How do I enable ssh (or is it already by default?)? I cannot connect to the machine.

Is it maybe the firewall? I did install the firewall (is it on by default?). If so how do I open ports preferrably on command line?

I tried to connect to self using:
ssh 127.0.0.1.

Need knowledge about this.

Thanks for any help.

Try starting it with:
service sshd restart

What do you get?

If it still doesn't work then check your firewall rules:
iptables -nL

And that the service is listening:
netstat -nlp

What error did you get when you tried to ssh to yourself.

$ssh localhost

Also you can check if the ssh service is running by

$ps -ef |grep sshd

If the sshd is not running you can start it and then look into firewall rules

Well on cygwin I get "command not found" when I try to restart sshd. I am sure that is a path problem.

I will try on my fedora box when I get home and post back.

Pete M, thanks for the help. Maybe you can help me some more.

I entered your command:
cygrunsrv --start sshd

and it spit an error at me:
cygrunsrv: Error starting a service: OpenService: win32 error 1060:
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

OK, so I thought it probably wasn't installed, so I did locate sshd.
among the list of locations was /etc/sbin/sshd.exe. It looks like it is intalled.
Any ideas?
