You enable scsi emulation by passing a parameter to the kernel that says something like "hdd=ide-scsi"
The easiest place to pass this parameter is in your bootloader. Edit either /etc/lilo.conf or /boot/grub/grub.conf depending on whether you use lilo or grub.
