I am having a hard time getting neomutt setup with Protonmail, I am actually wanting to swap mail providers but need some help. I am looking for something similar to Protonmail (free email with small archive, 10 mb or kb works even) and not a known creepy comapany (no yahoo or gmail). I have been searching, but can't find anything. Any recommendations? The issue is I need it to be A) free and B) something that can be used for applying to jobs if needed... that's why say: https://cock.li/register doesn't really work... I can't use protonmail as I want to do neomutt and pgp which isn't possible to do well with Protonmail (you can do it, but it gets sticky).
Not free, but cheap, I've been using Fastmail for like almost 10 years now. $30/yr for a reliable, and secure provider who doesn't use my data to make money.

The problem you're going to run into is that they need to make money to keep their services running. If you're not paying for the service, you ARE the payment...which means they're using you're info to make money, so you might as well use gmail/yahoo/outlook.com/etc.

I hate where I live, the whole reason I have to use this is because I am not allowed to work or setup my own mailserver

Because of ISP restrictions? Most ISPs won't allow you to run your own mail server. It's a spam prevention issue.
If you can't afford to register a domain and set up a server, as at GoDaddy, f'r instance, then yes, just accept the fact that you'll need to use gmail/yahoo-aol (Oath)/hotmail etc., although given the cost of running a "real" server, $30/year for mail service seems pretty reasonable.
As stated, somebody has to pay. The free email providers do it by selling ads and/or selling your information.
I seem to remember you mentioning your age. Are you going to be in college soon?
Your college will give you one, and you'll have access for the rest of your life.
Yeah, and I get to work when I am in college (I have no idea why that makes the difference, but I guess it makes sense) and at that point I will look to do a mail server. I guess I could use secmail or something for now and then use protonmail for job/applications. I could use a meme-mail, but people use those to spam and I don't want a part of that. On the upside I got newsboat working! I am just a little annoyed (I apologize for getting frustrated before), I am very specific about how things get done and get very anxious if I can't get things perfect (this is heavily reflected in my code such as in C and UNIX shell scripts). I just get annoyed mainly with messaging systems (essepically email) because the interfaces aren't how I like them. I myself hate even phones and don't like having to have one (for many reasons). Thankfully I was able to get the XMPP, IRC and tox configuration I wanted and as a bonus I discovered newsboat which I can use for YouTube (even with invidous!) and can configure to run with w3m when I need to view something in a browser. I am just a annoyed that ProtonMail doesn't allow for this type of configuration, but one day I be able to use neomutt! At least I have it configured and a script to set it up for that day...
