Email Kmail Thunderbird and aliases

I am on Fedora 1 and I run mostly Kmail to handle my (pop3 and smtp) email stuff.

I have a dial-up account with the local telcom.

I have one email addy they supply, let's call it biggles@telko.zip (email A)

I asked them to create an alias called alias@telko.zip (email B)

This alias, I understand, is really the same address.

I want my mother to be able to login under her own username and to run kmail (or thunderbird) and for her to be able to receive emails that have been sent to email B.
I don't want any emails sent to email A to get through to her inbox at all.

Similarly, when I am logged-in, I don't want to receive any emails sent to email B.

When I used to run Outlook Express on Winders (over a year ago now) it had an option in the filters to "DO NOT DOWNLOAD".
So I could tell it to not download when email was addressed to email A (or B, whatever.)

I have not been able to find such options in Kmail or Thunderbird.

When I set thunderbird's account to use only email B (In account-settings) - my intention is to tell it only to receive from alias@telko.zip, but it happily receives email from A as well, so that's not working as I expect.

Is there any clever trick or some kind of software I can use to solve this?

Thanks

I've been tumbling around in KMail for some time now, and i think i found the right option. It doesn't work however

Now to my point:
Why do you want to alias it? Why not just make a new account? That way you can give your mother an user on your computer or something like that, and you would keep the two mail accounts separated.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
The answer is that it will cost me per month to have another email address. While this is not a train-smash, it bugs me that I can use a free alias as a "separate" account under Windows but not under Linux.

I thought the "Configure POP filters" in Kmail would do it, but they don't work at all.

wow.. crappy ISP. In norway we're allowed to have approxymite 10 free seperate email accounts.. Though i don't even use one of mine (i host my own mail server). Does it matter what domain the email account is on as long as it has supports POP?

Yes, the ISP is crap!
I can't afford much better really.

I am not sure what you mean about "Does it matter what domain the email account is on as long as it has supports POP?"
Do you mean I should get another email from somewhere else (like hotmail (gasp) or something)?

Thanks for your suggestion, I might have to do just that.

Is there some other software that can receive all the email from my pop3 mailbox at the ISP (this would be email to both email A and email B) and then split them from there and dump them into Kmail's inbox?

In other words, have another app do the sending and receiving and just fool Kmail into thinking it is in charge?

Not that i know of, as i've never needed to do this.
Annyone with basic c++ or c knowledge can do this for you however. 1. use fetchmail to download the mail. 2. Use a program to check who its from. 3. move the mail to the correct mail directory.

I really wish i could have helped you more out on this one, but i have -2 experience with c/c++..
