Question

I have recently been burdoned with the task of migrating a 100 computer network from Novell 5 and Windows NT over to Linux. All the workstations will remain windows 98 and 2000.
Currently the workstations use Groupwise for their email, which is very similar to outlook in that it has a global address book.
When going with Linux, I will use MS Outlook on the workstations, However, will outlook work with sendmail having a global address book, or is there a software for linux that emulates an exchange server? What options do I have? Keep in mind this has to be VERY user friendly (client side) because most people are point and click, so I would like to stick with MS Outlook for the Client side.

Any Suggestions?

Here are the two options that I know of. Sendmail will not emulate an Exchange server.

OpenMail - http://www.openmail.com
TradeServer - http://www.bynari.net/Products/products.html

Ouch! That is a nasty conversion.

If it is even a remote option , I would recommend migrating the desktops to Star Office. The address/contacts list can be exported to a .csv file and easily imported to staroffice and staroffice is FREE and I personally feel that it is more functional than Outlook.

LDAP

I think what you need is LDAP.
