It's a nightmare down here, believe me .




_I needed to conect through windows because i had to download P.L.T driver for a plotter in order to transform my D.W.G files (autodesk) to be abble to plot them elsewhere as autocad is porprietary and all
-My wife tried to upgrade from AOL 6.0 to 7.0 some days ago
-things went wrong ( don't know why, i wasn't there) and i could not connect to the internet ,IE would tell me every time it can not connect (this page cannot be seen)
-asked for help and spent last night trying to correct the problem (12 free calls to technical support)
-i was about to cancel my account and they tell me they'd give me a month for free along with special help and...
-things began to get ugly as i went along the way ,after zillions of changes they tried to change things on IE and...
-i was sent to level 2 of tech support and after hours of striving with IE and windows configuration , nothing .
-meanwhile i thought it would be a better idea ,as i (fortunately) had lots of space on Linux to make a backup of my windows system on /home partition (almost 3.5 GB) .....
-i continued to make calls for aol and after a while i couldn't even get the thing to work anymore and the guy would tell me : "press the f8 key at a rate of two by second" , with lilo on i really had to do major effort to get the thing done , man i was miserable and on top of that i have to make this report by thursday which is very, very important . well folks i did my new windows install and fortunately things worked fine but here's the deal :

i have word files on linux that don't appear to exist ( i can acess them on abiword tough) and as i'm a complicated guy here's what i'm trying to do : send this files through email to myself in order to be abble to get them back on windows and work again on it but as i tried to attach it to a email message i get an error telling that those files don't exist , in other words HELP

When you try to move them back to the windows partition from within Linux does it give you the same "file does not exist" problem?

What do you mean they dont appear to exist ?? can you see them.
What happens when you go "cp wordfiles_u_want /mnt/windows"
P.S. that error would indicate you cant send ANY mail, is this correct or is it just with attachments

Hi, I had the same errormsg with kmail.
Funny thing is that receiving worked and from mozilla sending and receiving emails worked - with the same settings for the mailserver.
Try to send an email with mozilla, if that works run ethereal or something similar while sending the mail and check for the address it uses.
In my case the server for outgoing mail was set as smtp.bnu.terra.com.br but it is actually connecting to smtp.poa.terra.com.br
Why it worked with mozilla and not with kmail is beyond my knowledgebase. Also I cant send emails to netscapeaccounts from kmail. Since AOL is netscape something might be screwed up with your ISP.
I got an adsl from Brasil Telecom and it is working without any trouble at all - you might want to get rid of AOL - too expensive anyway!

i guess i`m about to do just that crashmeister , anyways i managed to send it by normal cut and paste :-) hey amp 2000 thanks for the tip , i never tried kmail before so i don`t know , but gonna . i didn`t try it yet augamecock but i`m going to ,not calling from home thanks anyways .
