Email access not possible in my redhat machins
 

Hello.
I am currently working in an institution that has both windows and unix machines. There is a windows 2003 DHCP and DNS server. All the windows machines are connected to this server and are able to get connected to the internet through the other proxy server available. The unix machines are also connected to this server and they are getting a dynamic IP address from the DHCP server. But the problem is I can't get access to any of the email sites like yahoo and gmail. It is possible to access internet from these machines but I don't know why it is not possible for the email sites accessible through these machines. I appreciate your help for this problem because I am currently stcuk with it.
The error message I am getting when I try to access yahoo mail is:
yahoo mail couldn't be contacted...

Could it be your corporate policy to block access to webmail sites ? not uncommon..

Since everything else works and you can browse the internet, I think that may be your issue.. they do have you going through a proxy after all, and proxy's are great at filtering content such as webmail..
