eee 4G digital photoframe, repurposing an eeePC and LCD monitor. Which Distro?

I have updated my system to an LG X110, (more stylish MSI Wind clone), (Dualbooting XP & Ubuntu).
I would like to find a good use for my trusty eee 4G 701, and a an LCD screen that is currently doing nothing.
I intend to hide the eee behind the LCD, and will make it look as much as like a normal frame as possible, (add surround, hide wires etc).
I would like you all to help me make it easy to use, i.e. turn on and run without user input.
I would like to find a Distro to boot from the eee 4G SD slot, which will boot straight into a Photo Slideshow viewable on a spare LCD.
I also need to be able to read windows formatted Cards &/or USB sticks to transfer the pictures to the eee.
I don't envisage the need for wireless, hope not to need keyboard other than the odd time to update pictures etc.

Thanks in advance,

Basically any minimal distro is appropriate.
Have a look through what other people have done and find one which suits you - since there are many ways to set this up.
