Question echo off boot up messages

Hi everyone..

I would like to know if there is a way to echo off boot up/start up and shutdown messages. I dont want these messages to show up on the console.

Thanks in advance

setting the "quiet" option for your boot image in lilo.conf will remove a varying amount of them, depending on the distro you're usin, it'll nuke them all on mandrake 8.2. after that i'd suggest editing out the echo lines in /etc/init.d/functions's action function. Can't really see why you'd want to do it tho

Simply because the first thing I want to see when the machine boots up is my application. I dont want the user to see any other messages except my application.

root=/dev/hda1
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append=" hdc=ide-scsi devfs=mount quiet"
vga=788
read-only
image=/boot/vmlinuz
label=linux-nonfb
root=/dev/hda1
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append=" hdc=ide-scsi devfs=mount"
read-only
image=/boot/vmlinuz

try making quiet the first parameter, instead of the last?? it shouldn't matter, but it's worth a shot. the "quiet" option does freaky things for me if I also try passing the "mem=xM' option, so I can't use it.
