easy ssh problem

Hi,

I am just trying :

nmap -sS 10.1.1.15

behind the firewalling/router...
and get:

I cannot understand why my ssh open-ssh server services are not showing up with nmap ?
And:

ssh 10.1.1.15 -p 5423

works great.

So, then, I cannot explain & understand it.

Hi.

From the man page:

Quote:

By default, Nmap scans all ports up to and including 1024 as well as higher numbered ports listed in the nmap-services file for the protocol(s) being scanned.

I'm guessing port 5423 isn't in the nmap-services file.

The nmap command does not scan all ports by default, only "interesting" ports. Instead, try:

nmap -sS -p 1-65535 10.1.1.15
