Easy OpenOffice question

I use both OpenOffice and KOffice on Linux (SuSE 8.1) with KDE.

When navigating OpenOffice documents or spreadsheets using the mouse wheel or up/down arrows the screen jumps by several lines at at time instead of one line. Note that I used "Mouse - KDE Control Module" to set the mouse wheel to scroll by one line. This slows my work as I often move around allot during editing.

The mouse wheel and up/down arrow buttons work one line at a time for the KOffice programs. If I boot to Windows 98 and use the Windows version of OpenOffice the mouse wheel and up/down arrow keys also work correctly. Of course, out of respect for my Linux box I only use Windows for testing for hardware problems.

I would really appreciate if someone could check their OpenOffice on Linux and let me know if the mouse wheel or up/down arrows work one line at at time. Maybe I've missed a setting in OpenOffice? Maybe this relates to OpenOffice and KDE? Any ideas? Thanks.

brucehohl - I've just checked my mouse wheel in OpenOffice and it scrolls several lines at once but the keyboard up and down arrows move line by line. I'm using SuSE 8.0 I can't find any options either. Sorry.

fsnowman45:

You have many questions in one posting. There are many good Linux distributions and Mandrake is a good and popular choice. This question is on many Linux forums. See LinuxPrinting.org for info with printers. I not sure about the video camera. You can use both Mandrake and Windows on the same computer but not at the same time. To achieve this Windows is usually installed first and then Linux is installed. As part of the Linux installation the hard drive is partitioned giving room for both Windows and Linux. Also, a boot manager is installed which will give you the choice of starting the computer under Windows or Linux. To gain more knowledge read the documentation that came with Mandrake and ask questions.

For these forums to help it is best to ask a single specific question in a new thread. In this case you asked several questions and attached onto an existing thread unrelated to any of your questions.

Good luck with Mandrake.
